The BBC’s Discovery series, part of the BBC World Service, has published a really interesting podcast called ‘On the trail of the American honeybee’.
Divided into two parts, part 1 tells the story of migratory honeybees in America. Tens of thousands of hives are transported all over America, pollinating all sorts of plants like almonds, cranberries and wild blueberries. Makes our hive numbers pale in comparison! Part 2 looks at threats to beekeeping, like colony collapse disorder.
They’re each just under 30 minutes long and really worth listening to! You can download them here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/discovery.
